Mon, 30 January 2006 Lesson 20 is here. Andrew discusses the flourishes in Chapter 13, and answers some listener e-mails.
Next week we'll begin Part Two of The Royal Road to Card Magic! |
Thu, 26 January 2006 Keith is still on the road. We hope the sound quality is okay. Sorry for the slight echo on Andrew's voice.
The unofficial GMG Listener Forums are being used, at least by Gareth. Stop in and say hello. Speaking of Gareth, he sent in an old ad for the Mark Wilson Course in Magic. We'd like to hear all of your negative feedback about the show. David wants product reviews? How about two? Waqas sent in a text review for Ultra Smoke 2000. Click HERE to read the review in our Forum. Greg sent in an audio review of Daryl's Encyclopedia of Card Sleights DVD series. A layman's review of Mindfreak. Keith has some tips for choosing show music. Audacity is an easy to use music editor for any platform. GarageBand is another good program for Macs. ETHICS: Does magic come from a store? Kif still loves D'Lite. Cohen asks for sponsors so he can join the IBM. He'd like you to e-mail him directly: playdoepete@gmail.com Logan D. would like to discuss escapes. HYPE OF THE WEEK: Midas Thanks to Geoff for this week's Hype Music. Remember, now's your chance to tell us what you hate about us or the show. We'll read all of it in the coming weeks. We promise. |
Mon, 23 January 2006 The Pass Part II: This Time, It's Personal. Andrew flies solo for today's lesson (Keith haters, enjoy it while it lasts). Our textbook is The Royal Road to Card Magic. |
Thu, 19 January 2006 It's our 25th anniversary show. Hard to believe we've been doing this for 6 months!
On today's thrilling episode: Magic lost yet another one of the greats this week with the passing of Ed Keener. We discuss the download issues. When possible, please just download one file at a time. Our host is working toward a better solution. Thanks for your patience. Keith says that Ring 55 is great. Ethics Discussion: Mall Magic. Andrew's Three Dollar Coin Bending Solution. HYPE OF THE WEEK: Astro Question Chart - (Just read the whole page.) Gareth asks how to prevent what Keith calls inevitable: fighting on message boards. Timothy discusses what makes us better performers. Joe is looking for help with Pen-etration. Philip would like ideas on writing patter. Logan needs card tricks for the stage. Keith interviews Andrew, but we run out of time. |
Tue, 17 January 2006 Again, we're a day late. Sorry 'bout that. This week, we discuss the (controversial) Pass.
Andrew suggests Peter Cassford's Pass With Care for those of you looking for a more thorough discussion on a "real world" pass. (Rumor has it that there's an easter egg starring GMG's Keith Barber...) Next week: More on the pass (we just can't enough). |
Thu, 12 January 2006 Today's episode includes:
News: Magic suffered a loss this week with the passing of Alex Elmsley. He will be missed. Our review of the Discovery Channel's Miracles of Jesus special. HYPE OF THE WEEK: This week's offender is Mindbender by Ellusionist. Lots o' Feedback! Rhett chimes in. Logan (Squared) is looking for a stage name. Keith suggests "Logan." Kif discusses creativity. Eric wants a zip file with every episode. Not gonna happen. Sorry. Miguel discusses high prices. Chris says we are indeed liars. And we think he's right. Joe thinks we need more info on the site, so... We have a "special" interview segment to close out the show. |
Mon, 9 January 2006 Well, Lesson 17 is here. Text-- as always-- is The Royal Road to Card Magic. |
Thu, 5 January 2006 Welcome to a brand new episode of everyone's favorite magic podcast, Go Magic Go. Today, we discuss:
GMG was the subject of an article in Magie, a German magic magazine. Would anyone like to translate it for us? Scans of the article: PAGE 1 PAGE 2 James Randi will be hosting The Amaz!ng Meeting 4 from January 26-29 in Las Vegas. While this is not a magic event, several magicians will be attending and performing, including Penn and Teller, Mac King, Jamy Ian Swiss, and Jerry Andrus. (via MagicTimes) Criss Angel will begin filming Season 2 of Mindfreak in February. We discuss routining. HYPE OF THE WEEK: The Table The World Awaited Thanks to Jonathan for this week's HotW theme music. Contest Alert: Send us some Hype theme music. Over the next few weeks, we'll feature different submissions, and then we'll let everyone vote for their favorite theme. (Submissions should be from 10 to 15 seconds long.) Alex Page shares an effect with us. Billy wanted to know more about the "impromptu" Card Through Window. Joel reminds us to brush our teeth. Keone asks "Are we actors or liars?" See you all next week! |
Tue, 3 January 2006 And we're back!
Today's lesson is on the Double Lift. For even more on this subject, Andrew suggests picking up Greg Wilson's Double Take DVD. We apologize for being late with this lesson. We were forced to re-record it this morning after having some problems with the original recording. |
Tue, 3 January 2006 Happy New Year, everyone! We had hoped to have Lesson 16 of our Beginner's Series up by now, but we're having some pretty severe problems with the file. We're going to have to re-record the lesson, but we're not sure when we'll have a chance to get together and do that.
Rest assured, we didn't quit doing these shows, and we plan on having the new lesson (and a new episode of the main show) up as soon as we possibly can. Thanks for your patience. We'd also like to thank everyone for all the e-mails last week! We're still responding to everyone, so please be patient as we catch up on those. (Sorry if our replies seem brief-- our schedules have been rather hectic!) Category: News -- posted at: 2:40 AM |
