Boinko reviewed the coin to soda can. If you have text reviews for us, please post them to the forums so everyone can read them right away. If you want to send us audio reviews (and please do!), they can be sent to our e-mail address. ETHICS: Music Performance Rights ASCAP and BMI offer licenses in the United States. (Hey, check out this rousing rendition of The Final Countdown! Note: We're not responsible for the content on that site.) Alistair asks the listeners what to do when you stop loving magic. We're looking for everyone's thoughts on this. Chris wants info on peek wallets. Several people, including Scott, Geoff, and Chris, answered Andrew's question about approaching a table. Here's a link to Scott's column: The Approach.
Michael (and a jillion other people) can't believe that we failed to mention Jim Steinmeyer's books! We apologize, and here are the links: The Glorious Deception Michael also suggests the various CD-ROMs that collect old magic periodicals, such as The Jinx or The Phoenix. Kif chimes in with advice for keeping children entertained. Laflin's Laugh Lines by Duane Laflin is a great resource for involving children, and we noticed it's on sale this month. He also suggests Creative KidTalk by David Ginn, Steve Taylor, and Sammy Smith. Arthur asks how long should we practice? Thu, 9 February 2006 Episode 28 is on the way! We noticed a problem in the file at the last second, so it's being re-encoded as we type this. We haven't quit! Category: News -- posted at: 4:49 PM |
Thu, 2 February 2006 We're having some tech issues (again!), so you may notice some weird sounds in this file. We're still working on it.
This is Negative Feedback Week on GMG, but there's so much more. (Including a new contest!) On with the show: Ethics: The History of Magic. Christian wrote in to see if we'd discuss magic's rich history.
A few books we suggest are The Illustrated History of Magic We'd like to hear your favorite stories from the past, as well as your book suggestions for Christian. Kif says we seem too rushed to end the show. New listener Rodney concurs with the giggling comments. We'll try harder, but no promises. Also, he wants info on performing for kids. Andrew's Question for Everyone: How should one approach a table for walk-around? Gareth, David, and Matthew have thoughts on the Beginner's Series podcasts. Please send in your suggestions for our next textbook. Let us know if you're a beginner or a veteran. Mark would like a review of Criss Angel's Quarter Through Soda Can DVD. Zach discusses escapes. He says Cannon's Great Escapes is a great source. (Legal Disclaimer: This is Zach's recommendation.) James wants to know which Lennart Green DVDs to buy. Sam wants to know what we look like. What do YOU look like, Sam? It's contest time. Want to be heralded as the Go Magic Go Greatest Psychic of All Time? Andrew and Keith were consultants on the project, and Peter was kind enough to send us a copy. All you have to do is tell us: What card is Keith thinking of? Here are the rules: The card is not a Joker, an advertisement card, or anything silly like the 3 and a half of Clubs. Standard deck, 52 choices. Choose wisely. One entry per person. Please don't create 52 e-mail addresses. We have ways of knowing, trust us. Valid entries must say "contest" in the Subject line. All of the correct entries will be entered into a drawing. One winner will be chosen. All entries must be sent to gmgpodcast@gmail.com by 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time) on Tuesday, February 7th, so enter now! And now, HYPE OF THE WEEK: Telekinetic Bulb Destruction II This one is better if you've actually heard our comments. Go ahead and click here first. Then, head over to this link.
